PENERAPAN STRATEGI DAN KEBIJAKAN KEMENTERIAN PERINDUSTRIAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA DALAM MENGHADAPI REVOLUSI INDUSTRI KEEMPAT KHUSUSNYA PADA WILAYAH PERBATASAN

Abstract

Indonesia's economy has grown sixfold in 17 years, surpassing US$1 trillion in 2017, successfully transforming from a natural resource-based economy to a value-added sector-based economy. The Ministry of Industry has developed the Making Indonesia 4.0 Initiative to implement the 4IR strategy and roadmap in Indonesia. The economic and social situation of people living in border areas is generally much lower than neighboring countries (Malaysia). Human development in the West Kalimantan border region is reflected in the average Human Development Index (HDI), which is still lower than other regions in Kalimantan. The research aims to determine the application of the Ministry of Industry's strategies and policies in facing the fourth industrial revolution, especially in border areas. The research design is a Literature Review, which analyzes the Ministry of Industry's strategies and policies related to 4IR and the readiness of border areas. Industrial modernization is focused on region-based natural resource processing industries and industrial centers with supply chain and value chain integration from upstream to downstream, supported by innovation, quality human resources, and partnerships between large, medium, and small industries. Industries are encouraged to become part of the global value chain (GVC), with a priority on food and beverage, textiles and clothing, automotive, electronics, as well as chemical and pharmaceutical industries. National industrial efficiency is gradually improved with the implementation of smart and sustainable manufacturing to anticipate aging population, efficient urban activities, broad human-goods-services connectivity and mobility, and better environmental quality.
