Abstract

Bagasse is one of the largest agricultural residues in the world. Improper management has the potential to cause air pollution. Therefore, proper management must be carried out to reduce environmental problems and increase the economic value of bagasse. One of the ways to solve this problem is to process bagasse waste into liquid smoke. The study consisted of 3 concentrations of bagasse liquid smoke obtained from the pyrolysis results, namely (6%, 9%, 12%) and formic acid as a control. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using bagasse liquid smoke as a latex coagulant on the quality characteristics of the SIR produced. This research was conducted in two stages of the process. bagasse liquid smoke production, SIR production and SIR quality testing : dirt content, ash content, volatile matter content, P0 and PRI. Based on research results, dirt content ranges 0.006% to 0.009%, Ash content ranges 0.213% to 0.239%, the volatile matter content ranges 0.204% to 0.261%, the P0 value ranges 38.6 to 43.6 and the PRI was 71 to 85.3. All of these parameters is appropriate with the quality requirements determined based on SNI 1903:2017.
