ANALISIS KONTRIBUSI SOFT SKILLS TERHADAP PERKEMBANGAN KARIR LULUSAN POLITEKNIK TONGGAK EQUATOR PONTIANAK

Abstract

This research is conducted in alumni (Tracer Study) especially related to current alumni work and what soft skills needed to support their work. This research used descriptive research method that try to describe soft skill requirement that needed by work, which the result will be followed up by curriculum review and for academic and non academic activities, in order to compete in the workplaces. This research was conducted for 3 months, starting from August until October 2017. The place of this research is done in Polytechnic Tonggak Equator, Pontianak. Variables of this reseearch are Intra-personal skills and Inter-personal skills. The population of this research is alumni of  Business English & Management department. The sample of this research is alumni who graduated from 2011-2017. Data for this study were collected by using questionnaire technique distributed to the research sample. This research will use measurement technique of rating scale variable from score 1-5. The result of the research shows that the Alumni of Business English & Management department has both intra-personal and inter-personal skills, although the result of the research shows that there are skills that need to be improved, such as inter-personal skills. All soft skills are very important for graduates to be able to compete in workplaces. Business English & Management department should give priority to the soft skills that are still lacking such an inter-personal skills, by putting it into the learning process as well as in various extracurricular activities.
